Stripping away the years

It had always been this way as long as you could remember- white high-gloss with bright turquoise trim- painted by your father when you were still just a boy, probably before I was even born.

It's witnessed children growing, marriages, families. There are pictures of your kids as children with the wardrobe steadfast in the background. You said that your father carried it across Europe from a flat in Belgium to the apartment where you grew up.

Decades later, it made its way here to Brooklyn, to where we make our home.

You said it's been on your to-do list for years to strip off that paint. Today was the day to strip away the years of paint and history.

The end result- it's just beautiful.
